The Southside Denny Band
A new version is here!
Denny’s reputation was primarily built as an electric blues guitarist, and he has been in operation as such since the early 1980’s. The first group to gain notoriety was Southside Denny and the Skintones from South Bend, Indiana. This group recorded two albums worth of material, and toured heavily in the midwestern U.S. and parts of English Canada.
Since those days, Denny produced three more discs (not including two solo acoustic discs) which can be ordered right here on this site on our online store . The amount of players Denny has worked with over the years are much simply too numerous to mention here, but the sound has always remained consistent and true to his three piece bluesrocker format.
The current group will not be changing much, because the Snyder-Larose family has decided to hang their hats in metropolitan Montréal. Consisting of longtime friends Simon Meilleur on drums and bassist Lindsay Pugh, this band is a reunion of the Montréal version of the SS Denny band from the mid 90’s. They are also heart of the most recent SS Denny Snyder disc (Full Circle, 2009). This highly acclaimed disc is recieving airplay not only in Canada and the U.S., but in much of Europe and Austrailia as well. This disc features Denny at his best in both acoustic and electric settings, with two tracks that also feature his daughter Lorrie on background vocals. Producer and renowned Montréal harp player Rick L Blues offers some tasteful playing on a couple of selections and abckground vocals on "Pays Cool". Cliff Alloy adds his touch to two songs on drums and the Djembe on Steppin' Up, and Ivanhoe Jolicoeur on trumpet and Flugelhorn on the song "Delirious Frank".
